How does Laser Therapy work?

Laser therapy causes chemical reactions at the cellular level. The photon energy accelerates the healing process, increases metabolism and improves circulation at the site of injury. It has been shown to be effective in the treatment of acute pain and injury, inflammation, chronic pain and post-operative conditions. What will you feel during laser therapy?

Laser therapy treatment is safe, painless and fast. Patients feel a soothing warmth as laser energy gently penetrates the tissue and boosts your body’s own regeneration powers to relieve your pain. Deep Tissue Laser Therapy treatments are usually administered for 5 to 10 minutes depending on the body location. Results can be immediate but the most observed results are after 4 to 6 treatment sessions. The body continues to benefit from the effects of the therapy for 18-24 hours after treatment. During this time, modulated cellular activity leads to decreased pain and inflammation.

Our class IV laser has a power output of 9 Watts! This is in comparison to class III lasers which operate at .5 Watts. This means that our laser is almost 20 times more powerful. We can accomplish in 6 minutes what the class III laser accomplishes in 120 minutes or 2 hours.

How do we incorporate deep tissue therapy into your physical therapy?

Clinically, the greatest effect of laser in the practice setting occurs in combination with either hands-on or instrument Chiropractic adjustments and other manual modalities such as massage, electrical muscle stimulation and neuromuscular re-education. It works synergistically with these procedures to augment the body’s own healing ability.

The combination of these therapies allows us to get our patients better quicker with less residual discomfort and less formation of scar tissue! Deep tissue laser has even been shown to reduce scar tissue formations from past injuries and surgical procedures.

Is Deep Tissue Laser Therapy the Same as Cold Laser?

No, cold laser is not even in the same ball park as DTLT. There are many different types of laser apparatuses being used in Chiropractic clinics, medical clinics, physical therapy clinics and other healthcare clinics that are touted as being deep tissue laser. DTLT comes from a Class IV Medical Laser and is the only therapeutic laser that has the technology and ability to penetrate to the deeper tissues. All the other lasers barely penetrate through your layers of skin, some may get down a quarter of an inch but the LCT-1000 can penetrate up to three-quarters of an inch which is considerably deeper than other devices.
